Are You Busy--Or Are You Productive?
At the end of each day, when you look back, do you really know what you've accomplished?
Or have you been so busy, you can't remember. Be honest.
Even more--at the end of each quarter, can you look back and account for everything you did that moved you and your business forward? Do you know if you're on track to meet your yearly goals, too?
Success is based on your productivity--not on the amount of time you work!
Here are a few tips for Improving Your Productivity:
1. Do something. Don't just think about doing something.
Have you ever heard the phrase, "analysis paralysis"? So many of us get caught up in thinking and analyzing and researching and making lists...that we lose precious time which could be better spent DOING something. Don't be afraid to jump right in. Action leads to success. Inaction leads to nothing--literally.
2. Create a visual for your major projects.
A picture on your refrigerator. A sign on your desk. A note on your bathroom mirror. A chart on your wall. Something you see all the time--and something others can see, too. This will serve as a reminder for you to keep making progress. When you're not moving forward, you'll be able to SEE it...and can do something about it. Making your projects public will help keep you accountable for, too.
3. Every week, create a schedule.
List all the things you want to accomplish over the next 7 days. What do you need to do to make these things happen? Whether you use a free online tool like Toodledo or RemembertheMilk, or the traditional pen and paper...creating this schedule will help you keep focused and on track to accomplish more.
4. Every day, create a roadmap for the day.
A To-Do List is not a roadmap. It's just a list. A roadmap assigns time frames to the items on your list...so you know whether or not it's even possible to accomplish everything you set out to do. Don't forget to schedule time for interruptions, too! Follow your roadmap and you'll be on track for success. Veer off course and you may get lost!
